Hello, 2014

In just 4 hours and 42 minutes, it is new years day here in the NZ. Lets mark all the main points of each month.

January - Worst summer holidays I've ever had. They were boring and tedious.
February- My first time back at school after 2 1/2 years.
March- settling in a making 'firm' friends with some girls.
April- Having a fall out with those girls- I don't know what I said/did.
May- Making close friends with a group of girls. These became my five best friends.
June & July - I think this was when I joined a sports exchange, playing soccer in a team with these really horrible girls. My billet was to sick to come down to stay, which was gutting.
August- Choose the school I was going to change to next year.
September- Went to Wellington for a nation competition I was entered in. My team and I had be in a extension since term one working on this. (We were Team A, out 5 or 6 teams) We came third in our division :(
October & November- Got involved back stage in my school production, made some great friends, and had fun.
December- Winding down from the year, avoiding anyone expect my five besties, and being a bit withdraw from activities.

This year has to be the most challenging year of my life. I made many good friends, and fell out with some. Got fit, had some laughs. Found out what its like to be in a large school. Really went out of my comfort zone.

But really, this is year never to be forgoten.

Brownie in a mug

Don't forget - self raising flour is used, so and 1/4 tsp for baking powder if using plain flower.
I added icing sugar instead of ice cream - yum yum || Found this on twitter from this person ||
Heres mine, soz about the bad photo:

Give - nah, we'd rather ruin it.

I was in the back car park of our local Rebel Sports, waiting for my parents to finish shopping for sports clothes. I was so bored. After about ten minutes of waiting, two ladies came out. One had a large amount of bubble wrap, which she dropped everywhere, and then had to chase around the car park. The other had a trolley, full with those really big umbrellas you put over outside tables, and some cardboard tubes. She threw all the tubes out, any other junk in the bottom of her trolley.

By this time the bubble wrap lady had gone inside. The remaining lady was pulling out the umbrellas of her trolley. These were brand new, no use, but hadn't sold. Maybe there was a little something wrong with them. Still usable. As I watched, she pulled out a craft knife, opened the umbrellas and slashed them, tearing the fabric. Wreaking them. I was horrified! What kind of shop would rather ruin something beyond repair, than give it away to a second hand shop, or sell it for $10 or $20. They are so stuck to the principal that you must sell at the price they want, or not sell it at all. Disgusted and shocked.

Bucket list 2014 - top 5

So I have made my bucket list and posted it. But I was thinking, one plain list is soooo boring, so I thought i'd post my top five, and reasons why.

  1. Make myself a new wardrobe. Omg, I love new things!! New things, shinny things, nice smelling things...they are to die for! Everything in shops theses days are short, tiny, low necked or open backed. With a few exceptions of course. And also, you never know when sewing can come in handy. (And somethings you can make are super cute) :)
  2. Keep a journal. When I'm older, I want to be able to look back on my life, and read about what I did (and also have my memories stored safely). I'm not that good a keeping a journal...I have tried but I just forget, don't have anything to write about etc.
  3. Take heaps of photos. I love looking at photos of me. Not in a vain way! I just like looking at how I looked once, and what I used to do. And photos can be a real laugh sometimes. The memory thing again really.
  4. Make lots of new friends. I'm going to a new school next year and I only have three close friends (and a sibling) that are going there. THREE!!! My friend situation has only been worse once, when it was zero friends at a new school.
  5. Have an awsum 2014. Everything. In general. Sports. School. Grades. Friends. Completing my bucket list. Just everything really.

First Impressions

This blogpost is about....
Yep, thats right. Please tell you've heard of them. For me, it's one of those band names I just know. And have always known. I only really knew their song Yellow, and my mother and singing 'And it was alllll yellowwwww', did not make me want to listen or like this song. I always thought....
A week or two ago, my sister played me their song Paradise  & Princess of China (ft Rihanna). Omg, it was love at first sight. Well more for Paradise, I'm not so sure about Princess of China. My sis and I bought both these songs, and I think my family wishes we hadn't. (I'm sure you can guess why ;)

So yes, first impressions or what you have alway thought,
can't always be right. Or in my case, up to date.
This is why this post is called....
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy new year Mazie.

All pictures except no.1 are made by me, so no stealing. Please.

    Anti-bucket list

With 2014 just around the corner, all the rage is of course, a bucket list. Here in the NZ, and I'm not sure about other countries, we have a thing called New Year's Resolutions. Just things you want to do, but often they can be things that you think you should do, like:
Read 20 books if you don't read much, because you've never been a big reader.
With a bucket list it's more like:
Sleep on the trampoline, or redecorate your room.

    Who we are- Switchfoot

    Who we are- Switchfoot.
OMG this song is just...OMG. I love it. I first heard on Life Fm (radio) and didn't like it that much. I have to admit, when I was younger is despised Switchfoot's music, and even now, I have to listen to it a bit, and let it grow on me. The lyrics aren't as good as they usually are, but this was for the (OMG) movie. I didn't really like the music video, it seemed...to be like, bitsy? Yea, in some places it just seemed to be them having fun, and then in other places, them really connecting with the lyrics of the song. Maybe it's just me.
Tell me what you think, and otherwise enjoy!

    Grumpy teachers

Lets get straight onto the topic: Grumpy teachers. At my school, teachers are, like always away or on relief. (What about us? We haven’t had a single teacher only day and it’s third term holidays!!) We had this really grumpy reliever in term one that wouldn’t let us use dictionaries and thesauruses for our writing. And in term two there was one that wouldn’t tell me if I had any spelling mistakes, she just say: “go fix it”. Go fix what??? Then this guy teacher who said: “ I’d rather play games with you, but your teacher has set you stuff to do.” Well duh. And then he’d get mad if we talked, and would read all our work out real loud, so the whole class could hear. And then he was like to me about my writing “This make no sense!!” When the task was to use 10 certain words in a paragraph, and two of the words were: pilot and production. Doesn’t it make sense that it was supposed to be was report about a production, staring a pilot. He was the worst. Wait, not as bad as the teacher that want us to explain how everything was done, and then told us that we were all wrong. Were’s the logic in that?!? We had this one two days ago who got mad at these two friends for choosing the same topic for there writing. There were only four topics. Gosh. And then she got mad at them again for whispering about their writing, when these other three girls were talking about something total unrelated, and real loudly. Then she got mad because one of them was sticking his feet out the side of his desk. OMG much!
Luckily its holidays now, so no school for two weeks. YAY!

Top left: mussel, crumbed. Top right: coleslaw. Bottom: Garlic bread.
    What I did:
    For Mussels:
Boiled mussels until the shells opened. Cooled them. Took out there tongues and beards. Soaked them in egg and bread crumbs. Left for 30 minutes. Fried in oil.
    For Coleslaw:
Put cabbage and carrot in food processor, and cut it all up. Put in bowl. Put mayonnaise, tomato sauce, lemon juice. No.2 and 3 are optional. Mixed in.
For Garlic Bread: Got french stick. Cut slits in bread, not all the way through. Put Garlic, mixed into soft butter, in the slits. Cooked in oven, while wrapped in foil, until crisp.

    Cross country

Did I ever say how much I hate cross country? Well I do. A lot.
The dreaded event is coming up, this Friday. I have to run 3.5km, up hills and though mud. Not nice!!! I've been doing a tiny bit on training (like running to the fridge and back to my bed). I don't think I got any fitter. Luckily it's only once a year...

    Back to school

School, school, school. What fun! Tomorrow, I'm back on the bus, to school. I enjoy going to school everyday. This term, I have cross country (week four) science fair, and girls soccer (hopefully). That's not it of corse.
Out of all the school holidays I have had, excluding the ones when I was homeschooled, these have been, the boring-est, longest, tiring-est holidays that I remember. I only remember a few but still..... They make us keep a blog at school. It's really awful, and takes the fun out of writing, blogging, and lots of other things. We have to update it once a week, and try and write about one topic (which you might have noticed, I'm awful at).

Stan Walker - Music Won't Break Your Heart

I love listing to music, and I am yet to come across someone who doesn't.
This is a song written and sung by Stan Walker, a New Zealander. He is an amazing singer; one of my favourites
I really feel I can relate to this song, in ways I find hard to explain.
    Anyway, enjoy.

Sleepovers -Dangerous and Disastrous [Part 4]

Well. its over. She left yesterday. I've never been so glad to see the back of someone. That sounds really mean. We dropped her off at her house, around lunch. Then walked to the school nearby, and mucked around. She still had 200% energy, no matter what she said. I'm still exhausted from her visit, and expect to turn around, and see her saying "Surprise! I've come back for another few days!" And when Mum gets a text, I cross my fingers hoping it isn't her Mum saying "Can she come for another few nights?" Im 'scared for life all of eternity' Today is Wednesday, I have to see her on Sunday.

Sleepover -Dangerous and disastrous. [Part 3]

And you thought it was over. Nope. One more night. Just one. Them some 'me time' which is much needed. It is time of sitting and thinking. I love to think. I think until I get alllll confused.  Anyway. Sleepover. Today I woke, and soft boiled eggs for both of us. I can't remember what happened after that really. They [Friend and Sister] went in a loooong bike ride, while I ran, so I'm fit for cross country in week four, term two.  We watched 'The railway children' [awful movie] and cleaned the house. We had an hour 'quiet time' where you go to you room and don't talk. We watched 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' again. And played a fun card game called hit the deck. And went to bed. I guess it's just one more night and until tomorrow lunch that My Darlin' friend will be here. I feel so exhausted. Emotional. I mean, I can not even type proper, let alone spell tbe word I want to use.
    Good night New Zealand.

    Life.

Never take life too seriously, no one gets out alive anyway.

Do you ever feel like you've tried something new, and it's all going good, and then it all goes bad? It's like life slapped you in the face. Really hard.
I'm feeling down right now. Like everything I've ever loved doesn't really care. I know it's not true though.
I just don't know where to turn sometimes. Or what I believe, and what I don't believe. Who I can trust, and who I can't trust. What happens next, is it good or bad? I'm sure one day, tomorrow will come.

    Scelestic School Break

School break happened every afternoon when I was homeschooled. Not anymore. The oddest thing is, in school term I have, like no free time. But, when the holidays draw near, a feeling of deep dread grows in my stomach. What I don't under is, what do you do in school holidays?
People say, shopping, sleepovers, sewing, etc. I tried shopping and that went really bad. I couldn't find anything I wanted or that was...me. Sleepovers? Read 'Sleepovers - dangerous and disastrous, part one, and part two. Sewing...how long can you spend doing it??? Two week of sewing?? *Faints* I made paper crane families. I did a 500 piece jigsaw. I had a friend over.
That all took one week. One more week to kill.
You probably get the point. I'm one of those odd people who hate holidays, and luv school.

Sleep overs -dangerous and disastrous. [Part 2]

The sleepover has turned into mega sleepover mania. I woke up at 10am, still 100% exhausted. Then I went up to feed the neighbors animal for the last time. After that, we watched 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, ate lunch, and got ready for church.
If you know what is like to have an overbearing sibling, that is alway noisy and in your face, times that by two, not wait, three, and you get what this certain friend is like. Uh huh. I know. Crazy. Church went smoothly, it nearly always does. Right until the end. That was when Mum says....She's staying another night. Praise The Lord for the spare room! Imagine if we had to share a room. Anyway, we left church and went to my friends house, do she could get some clean clothing and some things she left behind. Then, we went into her garden to look for rocks to paint. I don't really enjoy painting rocks, or painting at all really. But anything to keep her quiet is my new favorite thing. When we got home, Mum and Dad need to go o town, so us girls stayed at home. We ate dinner, and watched 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief'. I highly recommend. Great movie. It finished, my sister and I washed up, and sat down and did some complex braiding. My friend, played on Mum's iPad, took photos and driver up the wall. And back down the other side. She would not braid because 'It was too hard'. Some where in between that, she saw a spider (our house is full of them) and spent the next half hour screaming. Mum and Dad arrived and saved my poor life for fading away completely. I took this chance to flea to my room, and shut the door. Goodnight New Zealand.

Sleep overs- Dangerous and Disasterous [Part 1]

I have this good friend, that I have known for a very long time. All my life. About two or more times a year, she comes over for a sleep over. My overly energetic friend came to stay for two whole days. Admit it. We all have that one friend that drives us 100% insane, within the first hour.

When she arrived, she lay on my bed, and begged to play on my iPod( which I said no to) while I quietly cleared her a place to sleep in the spare room. The I got her mattress, and made her bed. Then, I gave her half a head of terrible corn rows. Then we ate lunch, made lemonade, and played snakes and ladders. After all that, I was wasted. Like almost dead. But no, more is coming. After two hour bracelet-making, we left for the neighbors, to feed his animals while he was away. Now I ready to drop dead but still, we proceed into the garden to find nice smooth round rock, which took about an hour. Then we painted them and she called them friendship rocks. That took until dinner, so we packed up, ate, and watched a DVD. Now, it is time for me to die. From exhaustion. Goodnight New Zealand.
